Youth House for Cambodia-China Friendship delegated Mr. Kong Pitou, International Relations Manager, to participate in the China-ASEAN Cultural Heritage Dialogue and Field Visit held in Gansu Province, People’s Republic of China, from 18 to 22 June 2025. The visit aimed to promote exchange, mutual learning, and cooperation on cultural heritage protection between China and ASEAN countries.

Held under the theme “Unlock Development Wisdom through Heritage Protection,” the Dialogue brought together representatives from government institutions, universities, research centers, cultural organizations, media, and youth from China and ASEAN. The event highlighted the importance of cultural heritage as a valuable resource for social cohesion, innovation, and sustainable development.

During the Dialogue, Mr. Kong Pitou contributed as a guest speaker, delivering a presentation on “Youth and the Future of Cultural Heritage Protection.” In his remarks, he emphasized that cultural heritage serves as a bridge connecting generations, strengthening intercultural understanding, and fostering regional cooperation. He noted that young people are playing an increasingly important role in heritage preservation through innovation, technology, and public engagement, while also facing challenges such as limited training opportunities and the pressures of modernization.

Mr. Kong Pitou also highlighted the importance of Cambodia-China cooperation in cultural heritage conservation, particularly in restoration and preservation efforts, as well as the role of Youth House for Cambodia-China Friendship in promoting intercultural dialogue, youth exchange, and people-to-people connectivity. He shared how youth-centered initiatives can help strengthen awareness and appreciation of cultural heritage among younger generations.

In addition to the Dialogue, delegates participated in a field visit to major cultural and historical sites in Gansu Province, including the Maijishan Grottoes, Fuxi Temple, Dadiwan Site, Guatai Mountain, and Tianshui Ancient City. These visits provided valuable insights into China’s long-standing civilization, heritage conservation practices, and the integration of cultural preservation with tourism and local development.

The mission provided a meaningful platform for participants from China and ASEAN to exchange perspectives on how cultural heritage can contribute to stronger regional ties, deeper people-to-people connections, and sustainable development. For Youth House for Cambodia-China Friendship, the visit represented an important opportunity to further strengthen Cambodia-China friendship, ASEAN-China cultural cooperation, and the role of youth in safeguarding cultural heritage.

Youth House for Cambodia-China Friendship remains committed to promoting cultural exchange, heritage awareness, and youth engagement as part of its broader mission to foster friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation between Cambodia, China, and the region.
